Oh god I had fun yesterday. Had 2 assassins on my team, 1 using frenzy and the other tiger's fury (obviously the better choice). They killed stuff so fast :O
That's all I want really. People that can kill stuff, faster than the other team can take me down, which usually is a long time anyway. I rage if they don't manage to kill stuff...
I boon prot btw. Got my rank2 yesterday!! And pretty much 90% of those is from RA.

You know that new mesmer elite that makes every spell a foe casts cause exhaustion? If you echoed that, what do you suppose it'd do to a boon protector? I'm just curious... You could probably chain it for 16 seconds.

Well the problem with Mesmers and skills like these is that in order for the Monk to cast through it, the rest of your team needs to be dropping targets belows the 25%~ life mark, which is the point where I would sacrifice a bit of Exhaustion for the sake of keeping the team alive.
If you're on a team that can't do that, then your arcane languor, echo'd or not, is pretty useless.
Also, bear in mind that most Boon Prots also bring Sig of Devotion in case they need to case through a nasty hex.
Edit: Of course, you'll get about 90% of dumb monks with this anyway, so yeah, might as well bring it.

If the boon prot monk is running CoP (and if they aren't they are shit) then good luck getting any hexes to stick, they'll just cop them off and laugh at you.
Constantly removing/shatterng boon and blackout will make a boonprot cry though.

I've never really 'farmed' for this title, i just mess around ALOT with builds in RA, and sometimes, if either i'm in a good team (VERY rare), or if i have a decent build (i'll never say that it's a good build, as everything can always be improved imo), then i occasionally earn a glad's point.
Yesterday even, had a 7 win streak (of which 5 flawless) by just spiking the whole time. I didn't have a selfheal, there were no monks on the team... me and another ele on the team just kept killing them before they could touch us.
So i think either spike builds or monking would be best for getting the title...

So far I've gotten 4/25 points but it's rough. I mean everytime I've gotten the points I've had a monk in my team. Every other time I've gotten smushed at 2 or 3 wins and sometimes even 1 without a monk. I also noticed that most of the people standing in random arenas who have the title are monks, i've seen one necromancer and one warrior but that's it. I've set my build to be a mage slayer, but it seems like all the monks use now are boon-protection and that mantra of energy thing and contemplation of purity and remove my daze sometimes.
My question is that does anyone else who has the gladiator title from random arenas see this pattern also and have got all their wins this way? Oh yeah I'm not going to team arenas because I don't want to figure out how to put all the counters in my build for all the gimmic builds in there.

congratz on your progress. i still haven't got 1 gladiator point from Random Arenas. >.<.

RA is a waste of time. TA is the place to be... when i play RA it's just to test particular builds against whatever crap that gets throw in there... get a few friends and do Team Arenas. the competition is tough however

Got 6 points in RA with my assassin.
3 when we had 2 monks.
1 when we had 2 rits .
1 with 1 monk
1 without any healer (but we had ele rank8 and necro rank4 ).
That sums it up I guess. If you want the title, play monk or spirit spamming rit. Any other builds are just for fun.

I find more often than not, that regardless of my support abilities (I'm more prone to healing, interupt, shutdown roles) a vast majority of the time it makes no difference simply because my teamates have little to no effective damage output of their own.
Imo its not even worth it if after the 10 wins it has taken 50+ minutes.
TA or picking a build that's well-rounded would be your best bet.

I've gotten 4 glad points in RA, all as a monk. TA is definitly the way to go. With 4 friends and a halfway decent build it's very easy indeed (42 consec is my record there, got bored and stopped at that point^^).

I seem to be cursed when i go for the Gladiator Title. Allways on my 8.th or 9.th Teamwin, the rest of the team just leaves because they got their 10 full matches -.-
The next team i get allways consists of drunk A/mo (eba) and Wa/Mos.

7 Points till now through RA and mostly in teams without Monks!
The major pain there is just that many leavers, griefers and no sig people going in.
So is mostly a luck thingy if you'll get a good team together or not.

Yeah...there isn't much you can do about CoP regardless of what your build is. Maybe if you stacked 4-5 hexes on a monk then they wouldn't be able to remove em all...
Mantra of Recall
Prot Spirit
RoF
Boon
gg. Although getting all those hexes on a guy is a lotta energy. I wonder if AL would work better in Alliance Battles, since exhaustion isn't affected by death..
Anyway..back to the point. Gladiator titles are not fun to do in RA I have found..since RA sucks mostly. For me, getting a good group together isn't a problem, but getting bad opponents. I've gotten a few pts with a 2 monk team (one of them me) and a w/mo Rage Mender. 10 flawless gg. I haven't been into RA in a few weeks..err more than a month regularly. meh

Hope no one here quits before the match is over. IT DOESN'T HELP YOUR GLADIATOR TITLE.
Christ this ranger ran away just long enough to quit. That is so pathetic.

I agree about the TAs. You're going to get glad pts just as fast as in RA but will probably learn more in the process. On the other hand, you end up standing around a lot with overly nit-picking people who act like if they lose the first match the world will come to an end.

I used to play RA for fun when there aren't any friends online, and got some gladiator points out of it, but never again after today. Something happened to RED ENGINE me off completely and utterly.
I get tossed in with what looks like a good team, we win some matches, we win some more, all good fun. We're getting close to 10 consecutives. After a long bloody match, we hit 9.
Ah, no, correction, I hit 9, the rest of the party hits 10. They all 'gg' and leave. Oh well... maybe I'll get lucky for my next match, right?
No such luck. Apparenty, I got thrown into the team arena draw, and I have to wait for SIXTEEN long minutes before I even get to play again. Waiting for a team that lost a member in between games I guess. Of course, to add injury to insult, we LOSE
I can deal with the loss, but making me wait for 16 minutes, that's just so much excrement.

The problem with mesmers in RA is that they have a life expectancy of about 15 seconds. And rarely get ressed. Both casters and warriors hates them and make a beeline for them the second the match starts, they get zero support from the team, and they have little to no tankability = death. It's the only class that may get targeted before any monks (because if there's a monk on the other team, he'll be pinging the mesmer like crazy).
I like playing mesmer, but I don't take my mesmer to RA any more, and if any mesmer gets the Gladiator title from RA, his boonprot monk has my deepest respect.
